On the Issue of Abortion

Yesterday I was listening to a local am radio show here in Dallas, and the shows host was taking calls on a comment made by a woman politician (I didn't quite catch who) who had made some pretty far out comments about motherhood being a form of Slavery and how Abortion sets a woman free.
Like I said, I didn't catch the name of the person who said this, maybe someone reading this would know, but it was a politician. Someone who no doubt we (the people of the United States) have voted as a "Representative" for us in the congress or senate, either state or federal.
My first thought was - what kind of person thinks of motherhood and children that way?
Let me see... someone who either has no children and does not like them. Or worse, someone who has children and hated being a mother! How can that happen? Being a mother (single or married) is the most challenging act of service, not servitude.
Through service we grow to love those we serve, and the greater the challenge, the greater the reward and love we get in return.
Slavery is forced labor, motherhood is a choice. I will not get into the well known minutia of WHEN we make that choice. It is clear. I hope. But as men and women who are old enough to bear children, we know full well WHEN that choice is made, and it is way before conception.
A mother's work is payed, unlike slavery, mothers get payed in hugs, kisses, smiles, dandelions from the lawn, tiny hands in yours, tiny feet that run to you with outstretched hands, little voices that say "mommy" or "Grandma" and more importantly "I love you".
No mother would settle for less payment than this. There is no monetary recompense for it, only the above mentioned that are worth more than the dollar or the yen. This exchange does not devalue with inflation (pun intended) and it's currency is accepted in any country of the world.
Sincerely,
Silvina

Hope

Emily Dickinson (1830–86). Complete Poems. 1924.
Part One: LifeXXXII
HOPE is the thing with feathers

That perches in the soul,

And sings the tune without the words,

And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
5
And sore must be the storm

That could abash the little bird

That kept so many warm.

I ’ve heard it in the chillest land,

And on the strangest sea;
10
Yet, never, in extremity,

It asked a crumb of me.

Back to Homeschooling for us!

Some of you might think this totally crazy, but you know us...
It actually works out quite well for us to homeschool. In just 2 hours/ day, we get more done than schools do during one school year. Is it hard? Yes, on me. But I compare it to running. At first you may hate it and it seems impossible, then you get used to it, then you get runners high and love it!
The key is to take it easy, slow and steady do win the race!
